Acupuncture & Breech Presentation in Pregnancy
- Posted on: May 29 2019
Working with your Acupuncturist throughout your pregnancy can aide in helping reduce low back pain, insomnia & fatigue, morning sickness, anxiety, constipation, and breech presentations.
Breech presentations in late pregnancy (34 weeks or later) can reduce the woman’s options for continuing with a vaginal birth. However, with weekly Acupuncture and daily Moxibustion treatments your Acupuncturist can help soften the uterus, open the pelvis, and allow for the baby to move from a breech (head up) to a cephalic (head down) position in preparation for delivery.
Acupuncture and Moxibustion are safe, highly effective, and non-invasive ways to relax the uterus, open the pelvis, and allow the baby to move. Moxibustion, also called Moxa, is the process of heating up medicinal herb called Mugwort (Artemisia) on the picky toe in conjunction with an acupuncture treatment. Moxibustion encourages the baby to move into a head down position and should be discontinued once the baby has shifted into position.
