SUGAR & DEPRESSION
- Posted on: Feb 13 2018
While it seems like a gift to give your loved ones chocolate on Valentine’s Day, consider what all that sugar might really be doing for their bodies.
The journal Scientific Reports recently published a study that confirmed a link between a diet high in sugar and common mental disorders. In 2002, research for Baylor College found that higher rates of refined sugar consumption were associated with higher rates of depression. A 2015 study that included nearly 70,000 women found a higher likelihood of depression with those of high sugar intake.
One in six people worldwide suffers from a common mental problem such as a mood or anxiety disorder. Acupuncture is a safe and effective way to help symptoms of anxiety and depression, while helping the body detox of excess sugars.
Each individual suffers different emotional and physical symptoms in relation to depression and anxiety. In traditional acupuncture, every patient is considered to be unique, and this means that the practitioners will be looking and listening very carefully to everything that the patient says to establish a diagnosis and find the specific keys to unlocking the patterns of the symptoms the patient is suffering.
