TWO CONDITIONS THAT ACUPUNCTURE WORKS WELL FOR AND TWO CONDITIONS THAT IT DOES NOT

LOW BACK PAIN; For chronic low back pain, evidence consistently demonstrated that acupuncture or acupuncture plus another intervention such as Physical Therapy provides clinically relevant benefits and functional improvement compared with no treatment . Because of this acupuncture is now being covered by medicare for the treatment of chronic low back pain!!!
TENSION HEADACHE; A 2012 meta-analysis combined data from roughly 18,000 individuals in 23 high quality randomized controlled trials of acupuncture .( Acupuncture For Patients With Tension Type Headache: Randomized Controlled Trail BMJ August 2005;331-376.) This analysis conclusively demonstrated that acupuncture is effective in the treatment of chronic tension headache. Combined with chiropractic upper cervical adjustments acupuncture often produces spectacular results.
WEIGHT LOSS; Any claims that acupuncture as a stand alone therapy can aid in weight loss are false and actually ridiculous. There have been studies suggesting that acupuncture is likely effective for weight loss. But a review of these studies suggested that these results were not totally convincing because of problems with the way the studies were carried out. (Acupuncture For Obesity, A Systemic Review And Meta-analysis. Int. J. Obesity 2009 Feb: 33(2): 183-96.
ESSENTIAL HYPERTENSION/ HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE; A meta-analysis of randomized sham controlled clinical trials published in 2014 (Evidence Based Complementary Medicine 2014;279-289) demonstrated that acupuncture significantly lowers blood pressure in patients taking hypertension medications. The analysis did not find that acupuncture without hypertensive medications reduces blood pressure. Treating hypertension with only acupuncture is ineffective and if left uncontrolled elevated blood pressure could be deadly. Not a good idea.
