“I just can’t believe how good I feel the pounds are just falling off! And I’m able to exercise for longer periods of time w/o getting tired.” The quote is from my past patients experience with acupuncture for weight loss sessions. No, acupuncture is not a miracle for not exercising and eating well. Both are essential in completing a proper weight loss regimen. I get asked all the time if acupuncture really aids in the loss of weight, the answer is absolutely, but the person must be exercising regularly and be eating well.
The loss of weight is difficult and requires not a diet but a shift in your lifestyle. In other words, a shift of an individual’s mental paradigm. The mind is the first barrier and the most important obstacle to overcome bad habits and begin new ones.
How can acupuncture help? Acupuncture’s greatest strength is restoring balance within the human body. By rebalancing the digestive system and speeding up metabolism. Utilizing points along the spleen, stomach and liver meridian help to restructure the equilibrium and enhance endurance recovery during exercise. Treatments are always tailored to the individuals need not a systemic protocol that is for every patient. At the core of weight loss acupuncture is finding the root causes of the decrease of metabolism or the inability to lose weight.
