New Year, New Goals!
Every year, each and everyone of us set aspirations and goals for the new year. Whether it may be a new job, going to the gym more often, or even something as little as learning something new everyday, these goals and aspirations are had to sustain sometimes.
I’m here today to give you a little insight on how to sustain some of those goals and how professions such as physical therapists, chiropractors, and acupuncturists can help you along the way. Often times, it is hard to even create a goal/resolution.
First, you should take some time to reflect on what it is that you’re missing in your life, or something that you have neglected in the past that you may want to get back to doing. The most common goal for everyone is to get back to the gym and lose “x” amount of weight. Although, that may be an achievable goal, a suggestion I offer to my patients is that you want to start off with something small and easily successful. By doing that, you are creating milestones along the way to the ultimate goal and giving yourself a boost of confidence each time.
Second, mental health and relaxation are just as important as your physical health. I’m sure most people are familiar with the concept of mind, body, and soul. As much time as you put into taking care of your body, your mind and soul are just as important. For example, you may be in the best physical shape of your life, however if you are dealing with high amounts of stress, you may be susceptible to accelerated aging, GI problems, as well as headaches.
Here at APMR, we strongly believe we provide the necessary tools for you to not only get better physically but emotionally, mentally, and more. Our physical therapists, chiropractor, and acupuncturists not only focus on the physical aspect of reducing pain and restoring function, but emphasis tactics such as deep breathing, relaxation, and mental health as well. As providers, we are trained to look at our patients as a whole, and not to just one or more body parts. We put our best foot forward each and everyday to help people with their goals and aspirations, as well as make sure they are staying on the right track.
