Kerry McVey, L.Ac, LMT is a Licensed Acupuncturist and Massage Therapist, a Diplomate of Acupuncture through NCCAOM, and a certified Reiki Level II practitioner. She earned her Masters of Science degree in Acupuncture at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, her Associates Degree in Applied Sciences at the Swedish Institute of Health Sciences, and her Bachelors of Arts degree in Hispanic and Latin American Literature and Culture from New York University.
Kerry’s education at the Swedish Institute introduced her to both the Eastern and Western schools of medicine, and trained her to see physical ailments from multiple perspectives. She gravitated towards the Eastern philosophy, which looks at the body as a whole – encompassing mind, body and spirit as one. It was this passion for holistic healing that led her to pursue her Masters degree in Acupuncture at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine.
After graduating, Kerry opened a private practice in lower Manhattan which she successfully owned and operated for 6 years. She learned the discipline of combining Western and Eastern medical theory and also began cultivating her ability to successfully diagnose and treat a vast number of health conditions. With keen observation skills and careful listening, Kerry has been able to achieve great results in improving the well-being of her patients.
Kerry has taken extensive continuing education credits that have allowed her to hone her skills as a practitioner of acupuncture. She has a specialty in cosmetic facial acupuncture and is an assistant teacher for the Academy of Advanced Cosmetic Facial Acupuncture with Shellie Goldstein. Kerry utilizes these skills to treat ailments of the face and neck such as TMJ, trigeminal neuralgia, migraines, neck pain and Bell’s Palsy. Aside from frequently treating pain and injuries, Kerry also has a great deal of experience working with women’s health, pediatrics and psycho-emotional difficulties such as anxiety and depression.
Kerry’s practice utilizes a combination of skills in acupuncture, Chinese medicine, and bodywork. She also provides counseling on lifestyle and nutrition in order to educate her patients so they can make informed choices in their daily lives.
